On this page you will find a selection of journal entries. Please note that these are examples of genuine journal entries and were originally written for personal use and not with an audience in mind. I have included them in their original form and wording without worrying about using the best lingustic techniques or whether others will be able to understand the symbolism.

If you happen to know me in real life, please do not try to analyse who or what these entries might relate to. Some of my journal entries are about current situations, historical events, or even situations I anticipate encountering in the future. Sometimes the central character is myself and sometimes it is someone else. I have intentionally chosen entries that will not expose others and that I am happy to share.

One way of using these entries for your own benefit is to read them and see if you can identify with any of the themes yourself. You might be able to identify with aspects of the stories personally or be able to see how the characters in the stories have similarities to those around you.

  • The Ash Tree’s Burden

    Tree holding up a bridge

In the valley, a proud ash tree stood quietly at the edge of the meandering river. An ancient bridge straddled the river. It was built long before the ash tree had even pushed its first green shoot through the ground. No-one could remember who had built it but many depended on the bridge to get…
